Overwhelm is the cousin of procrastination, which is closely related to doubt, worry and fear. Let me explain.
When you have a goal or even just ‘something you need to do’, if it’s something you’ve not done before, in your mind it can become scary.
That’s because of your thoughts. Well your subconscious actually which is a little devil. That will hold you back from whatever you desire.
It works like this. Say you have a goal, and that goal is to call 10 people about your business in the next couple of days because the long term goal is to earn more money.
Well firstly you decide how much more you want, you have a figure in your head and come Monday morning you’re fresh and up and you start making calls. By 11am you’ve not spoken to a soul. Everyone’s either in meetings, on holiday, or just plain unavailable. So you go make some coffee. You gird your loins and start again. By 12.30 you’ve spoken to one person who isn’t interested in your service or product. You decide to stop for lunch, which then lasts longer than it ought. Maybe two hours. You sit down again at your desk at 3, having had some very urgent tidying up to do for the last half hour, and emails to answer and Facebook people to connect with. At 5pm you decide to call it a day. Come Tuesday morning you start later and the day progresses pretty much as yesterday, although you did manage to catch one person who said call me back next week as this week isn’t good for me.
By the time you go to bed on Tuesday night, your mind is already thinking perhaps I aimed too high. What if I go lower with my expectations? What if I make the goal not as much, even though some bills have come in and you’re now wondering how you’re going to pay them. As the week progresses you begin to feel totally overwhelmed with all of it, your doubt has turned into worry which has turned into fear and then that had becomes procrastination and finally you stop trying. Say Ouch.
What has happened is that you have allowed your thoughts to rule your actions. And it’s not an easy thing to change them.
But in order to change your circumstances you have to change your thinking.
There are some simple ways to do that.
The first being to stop worrying. The only thing worry does is cause stress. And I know it’s easy for me to say and sometimes very difficult to do.
One of the reasons that you procrastinate is often a fear of the unknown. After all its called the comfort zone for a reason and when you attempt something new your subconscious will often kick in, whisper in your ear and say stuff like “why are you bothering, isn’t it ok here. What’s the matter with you”? and sometimes unfortunately it’s not just your subconscious its your nearest and dearest. Friends, family, colleagues, who all put doubts into your mind.
What you have to remember is that as much as they care about you they have their own agenda and its often in their best interests rather than yours. Let’s face it if you change, move forward, earn more, you might leave them behind and then where will they be?
You have to be strong and be true to yourself. Pushing through the barriers and finally living to your true potential might mean letting go of stuff, of relationships, of thoughts, things that don’t serve you anymore.
What you have to remember is that you only regret things in life you don’t do.
I have a programme that could set you on your way to freedom. Freedom from those doubts and fears and worries. Freedom to be who you deserve to be, living to your true potential.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”
